day 4 - shibuya

day 4 (tue): shinjuku(新宿) --> shibuya (渋谷)

finally a warm day, warm enough to move about in t-shirts. my fever had subsided=). decided to have breakfast at shibuya but their eateries would only start business at 11 am, and thus we visited one of the local supermarkets to kill time.

found a tempura-ya (shop specializing in tempura) with a tempura-sashimi set for 1280 yen (sgd 19). the set looked plain, but looks can be deceiving. it's delicious haha.

had some coffee at the starbucks overlooking the shibuya crossing, but the starbucks outlet is an anomaly. first of all they only have a single size for all their drink - tall. secondly, photo taking of the crossing is not allowed!! Why?!

walked past a big pharmacy-like store, and the store was celebrating the 30th anniversary of SK-II, and thus the facial treatments were sold for 30% discount - and so after discount the mask is cheaper than singapore.

still trying to hunt for a nice jacket, but found none. went into shibuya 109. saw some variety program show shooting at the entrance. after some exploration, i came to the conclusion that shibuya 109 seemed to sell only young female fashion. the interesting concept here is that the sales attendants wore some of the dress models which they carry.

finally we managed to spot a fancl store in shibuya. their products are relatively cheap as compared to singapore. furthermore discounts are given if 2 or more of the same sets are purchased. bought some facial products as well though i had never used any facial products before. i spent around sgd60.

we walked around center gai but still didn't find any good jackets. temperature fell and we headed into parco. quite disappointed with parco actually. it's quite bare, nothing interesting.

went over to have dinner at loft 6th floor. can't remember the restaurant name, but i managed to try their ochatsuke. tasty, but the portion quite small. btw the chef is indian i think.

btw has anyone heard of l'occhitane cafe? frankly speaking, we were quite surprised to see 2 stories of the cafe in shibuya. the cafe provides the patrons a fantastic view of the shibuya crossing. had some desserts over there, and the place was pretty crowded. though, we did not managed to secure a seat by the window, it was good enough.

sort of browsed through their products. was told that they were more expensive than back home. headed back to shinjuku thereafter.
